Whilst Mother Nature may not yet feel like shouting about it, the calendar does now read July and says it’s officially summer in the UK! Not sure what to wear? Well, we’ve discovered some great performing active clothing for Summer 2016 and some amazing new brands, which will have you covered whatever the weather.
We’re often really lucky to get sent items to sample and review and we’ve had some brilliant pieces sent across so far this summer season. We’ve just returned from cycling around Lake Constance (post to follow shortly), which provided the perfect opportunity to try out these items. Our trip involved us cycling through Switzerland, Germany and Austria and frankly, the weather was much the same over there as it has been here in the UK so far this summer – all four seasons! When mother nature is not quite sure what she has planned for us, but we still want to be active outdoors, we need to be prepared, even when it’s summer. So, I wanted to share with you some of my favourite active clothing for summer 2016, from some familiar brands and some fantastic new ones.
MUSTO – Women’s Acceleration Fleece (£99.99)
MUSTO is a well known active clothing brand and will have you covered for a whole range of activities. The women’s Acceleration Fleece is warm,cosy and a really good fit, with the bonus of a hood. Whatever outdoor sport you’re into this is well worth adding to your kit bag this summer. This zip-up top saw me through 14 hours of travelling to Lake Constance and kept me warm every step of the way. With it’s knit face, brushed back fleeced lining and relaxed fit, it’s perfect for post exercise to stop the body cooling down too quickly or simply just for chilling out in. It’s now an essential item in my SUP yoga kit bag and one of the first items of clothing I reach for Sunday chill out time.
I often have issues with sleeves being too short but not with this top and it fits true to the sizing guide. It has good decent-sized pockets too, which will easily hold your phone and your purse so there’s no need to carry a bag with you, which I really like.
I have the grey version but it also comes in a pink colour if that’s your bag! It’s perfect for keeping you warm outdoors on cooler days, warming up after a paddleboarding dip in the lake, relaxing after a yoga workout or for climbing into once you’re out of the cycling lycra. It’s one of those tops you will wear time and time again, season after season. Quite simply, the MUSTO Acceleration Fleece Jacket is an outdoor girl’s wardrobe essential. MUSTO is not a brand I’ve tried before; if you haven’t yet either, then I suggest you do.
OFFGRID – Wild Night t-shirt (£25.00)
OFFGRID are a Yorkshire based outdoor clothing company; a UK brand built around the outdoor life. Their home is in Barnard Castle, North Yorkshire, a stone’s throw away from the town I grew up in. Irrelevant I know, but it struck a chord with me and I can totally understand why they have developed a brand based on a love of the Great British outdoors and why they love the active outdoors life as much as they do!
Running and biking are two of OFFGRID’s favourite past times and their designs represent that. They also love a smoothie and their great t-shirts come beautifully packaged with a recipe card for a delicious, healthy smoothie. Nice touch, hey!
So, what’s so great about OFFGRID clothing? Well, aside from all of the above, the t-shirts are really well cut. They are also made from good quality fabric and the designs are pretty awesome too! I am loving my hibiscus Wild Night t-shirt that you may have seen me wearing on social media during the Lake Constance trip this June and Mr OCG has virtually lived in his ‘Earn the Downhill’ t-shirt since it arrived! Always a good sign! They’ve become firm every day essentials for us. If the t-shirts are anything to go by, the sweatshirts, bags and hats available will be worth investing in too. Mons Royale – too many favourites to mention!
This brand is my absolute new favourite! It’s a New Zealand based brand which is just starting to make waves here in the UK and rightly so. Their gear is so cool! They kindly sent Mr OCG and I, a selection of items from their current range. And we can say without hesitation – this brand is absolutely awesome!
Their tech sweat has taken me from bike, to yoga, to hill walking to the school run! You know that feeling when you wear something and you just know it looks fantastic, even though it’s a casual piece of clothing? Welcome to Mons Royale. This brand makes you feel good! Made from merino, their clothing is flattering, performs well, is practical, versatile and super stylish! The kit from Mons Royale is No.1 for me so far this summer.

Well recommend clothes for summer fashion. These all looks trendy and stylish. As you know that these days, we all love to wear such colorful dress and it became fashion in our daily life. When it comes to introduce yourself in front of others, we wear a great looking and well suiting dress which fits in our body.
Offgrid – wild night t-shirt is awesome and prefer it due to it color which is good looking for me. And it comes with lowest price too. I’m always huge fond of wearing trendy and stylish dress and accessories such as goggles, shoes and stylish bracelets.

Clothing is a very essential part of out lifestyle and no matter what you do you must be wearing the right thing. If you are working out spending some time and money in good workout clothes will pay off. They will help you out and you will actually feel better with a good workout gear.
I don’t think you always need to be wearing the best clothing. For example you don’t need to wear cycling shorts to get on a bike. Or wear the most hi-tec leggings to enjoy yoga. I’m a big advocate of wearing whatever you feel comfortable in, whatever makes you feel good and whatever will encourage you to get active. Yes, certain items of clothing will definitely perform better than others and might increase your enjoyment, but what’s most important is to just get out there, get active and feel good. And if wearing your favourite t-shirt helps, then do it!
