Junior Cycling: Review of the Frog Road 67 Bike

Frog Road 67 bikeWhen you find a bike your child wants to ride you know you’re on to a winner. Anything which encourages children to get outdoors and to keep fit is, in my book, worth its weight in gold!  For kids who already love cycling, like my eight year old daughter, finding a bike that makes it easy and enjoyable just adds to their enthusiasm. Wrap all that up into a nice little bundle, adding fantastic build quality and decent components on a bike that really fits them and then you know their enthusiasm is unlikely to wane.  Allow me to introduce you to the Frog road 67 bike. Your Opportunity to Cycle in Prudential Ride London 100 2016

Prudential Ride London 100 2016Sounds great right? Well it is, but I’d like to get serious for a few moments, if that’s OK? We’ve seen a lot of traumatic events take place in 2015 with so much sadness and heart ache affecting so many innocent lives all over the world. The media has been filled with images of parents and children fleeing their homes, seeking asylum and in far too many cases, not making it to safety. We’ve seen wars, terrorism, natural disasters…so many different events in one year where children’s lives have been severely impacted.

So, here’s how you can help whilst also cycling in one of the best UK rides. (more…)

Women’s Cycling Kit: Fierlan Three-Quarter Length Bib Cycling Tights

Fierlan three-quarter length bib cycling tights

When I first discovered my love for cycling there was little out there in the form of women’s specific kit, particularly shorts and tights that were cut for a woman’s shape. As a five foot nine tall woman, with a 33 inch inside leg, I would opt for men’s tights so that I could be sure to get the leg length I needed, but take it from me, there is nothing more uncomfortable than cycling in something where the chamois is bulky and chaffing in the groin area. Ouch!

Who are Fierlan?

That was my experience until I discovered Fierlan. Fierlan is a British women’s cycling apparel brand based in Bristol. They’re quite new to the scene and with lovely flattering designs, that are cool rather than girly and great Italian made quality, they’re really making a name for themselves. (more…)

The Cycle Touring Travel Bug

cycle touringI have the cycle touring travel bug! And I’ve got it bad. I didn’t think I would get bitten quite so badly; I’m a road cyclist really; it’s always been my true cycling love – getting out on the open road, challenging myself and feeling some improvement in my fitness levels and abilities. But since my return from Catalunya, I’ve spent some part of nearly every day researching my next cycle touring travel destination, dreaming of cycling in places I’ve never cycled before, surrounded by mountains, seas, vineyards…

Cycle touring can be extreme – some people love it so much they travel across continents – or it can simply be a weekend in the UK or a few weeks holiday in Europe. Exploring your favourite countries by bike adds a whole different dimension to your travel adventures and your cycling experience. Cycle touring is far less competitive than road cycling. There are no strava segments to worry about, no assigned ride speeds, no competitive feelings about who is riding the best bike with the best components, or wearing the best kit. Cycle touring is purely about exploring the country you’re in and enjoying your time on the bike. I like that concept. I like it a lot. (more…)
